In un futuro non molto lontano la razza aliena degli Amanto è discesa sulla Terra e ha vietato l'uso delle spade, segnando il declino dei samurai. Nella città giapponese di Edo solo Gintoki Sakata è riuscito a mantenere l'anima del samurai e fa da maestro al bonario Shinpachi. Nel disperato tentativo di sbarcare il lunario, Gintoki, Shinpachi e Kagura gestiscono l'Agenzia Tuttofare.
